Masala Chai
A warm spiced black tea, rich in flavor and warmth in every sip. Perfect with milk (or substitute) and honey, for a creamy internal blanket. A drink fit for a king.
Ingredients: Black Tea, Cinnamon,Ginger,Cloves, StarAnise,Cardamom, Black Peppercorns, Nutmeg
Legend of Masala Chai (spiced tea) is of its creation for a ruler, when he requested a healing spiced beverage. The first blend did not include black tea and only herbs. Ginger and black pepper were to stimulate digestion, cloves were added for their antibacterial properties and to aid pain relief. Cardamom was added to improve mood and is to promote circulation and respiration. They topped it off with star anise for a breath freshener. In the 1800’ s black tea was added by the British and of course they also added milk and sugar.
There are many ways to enjoy a cup of chai: Brew 2 teaspoons in 6 oz of water for up to 5 minutes . Or Brew with 3 oz of water and add 3oz of warm milk and sweetener of choice. OR brew in 6 oz of milk and add sweetener of choice
